Lassonde DevDay | Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute | University of Utah

Founder brief

Who should attend

University of Utah students from any academic major or skill level should join, whether you are coding your first project or already building a software venture. Participation is free, but attendees need to submit their applications by November 10, 2026.

What happens

Participants spend the day coding software, working directly with expert mentors, and shaping their business concepts. The schedule culminates in a formal pitch competition where student teams present their products to compete for cash prizes and coveted spots in the DevLab student software incubator. Food is provided throughout the day.

Who's in the room

Fellow student builders from across the university gather alongside mentors supporting software development and business strategy. Representatives from the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute and Lassonde DevLab run the program and assess the final pitches.

How to prepare

Arrive with your development tools set up, a functional workspace ready on your laptop, and a few initial problem areas or product ideas mapped out. Since the event couples rapid development with a pitch competition, plan to allocate time early on for translating your technical solution into a clear, concise presentation for the judges.
