Founder brief

Who should attend

Early-stage founders and operators looking for a candid look at business missteps will find value here. Those navigating early setbacks or interested in learning directly from the pitfalls of building a company should consider attending this free meetup.

What happens

Starting at 18:00, the session centers on the reality of failure as a prerequisite for building lasting ventures. Organized as an in-person meetup across November 2 and November 3, it foregoes formal pitch sessions in favor of direct discussions around operational and strategic stumbling blocks.

Who's in the room

Hosted by Ugly Talk HQ alongside Victoria Yampolsky and The Startup Station, participants gather to share genuine entrepreneurial experiences. Local New York startup founders, operators, and advisors assemble to trade notes on navigating difficult moments without the usual public relations polish.

How to prepare

Bring one concrete operational setback or lesson learned from your venture to share during discussions. Since there are no formal pitch opportunities, focus your preparation on open dialogue, active listening, and asking practical questions about navigating early execution challenges.
